The 10 Year Anniversary Exhibition of the Degree Programme of Applied Art and Design in Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture

The 10 year anniversary exhibition LOLO&RORO will take over the port warehouse in Jätkäsaari in September 2012. During the event the old warehouse transforms into a platform for art and design, where the audience can enjoy the latest works of the young designers as well as the works of alumni of Applied Art and Design from Aalto University. Being curated by the students LOLO&RORO offers a comprehensive display of contemporary design and the people behind it with a total of over 100 exhibits. The work of different designers varies from jewellery and accessories to light fittings and carpets. The name LOLO&RORO has been inspired by the terms lift-on/lift-off and roll-on/roll-off used in affreightment and chartering at ports and plane terminals.

LOLO&RORO exhibition serves as a place to meet and relax and explore modern Finnish design while enjoying the view from the Kaffa Roastery’s pop-up café.

Nuorten muotoilijoiden tuottama juhlanäyttely Aalto-yliopiston Taiteiden ja suunnittelun korkeakoulun taideteollisen muotoilun koulutusohjelman 10-vuotisen taipaleen kunniaksi

Juhlanäyttely LOLO&RORO valtaa Helsingin Jätkäsaaren satamamakasiinin syyskuussa 2012. Tapahtuman aikana vanha makasiinihalli muuntuu taiteen ja designin näyttämöksi, jossa yleisö voi nauttia niin nuorten muotoilijoiden kuin taideteollisen muotoilun koulutusohjelman alumnien töistä. Tuloksena on syntynyt opiskelijoiden kuratoima monipuolinen kattaus muotoiluun ja sen tekijöihin – näyttelyssä esitellään yli sata esinettä valaisimista laukkuihin ja koruista mattoihin.

Nimensä LOLO&RORO -näyttelylle ovat antaneet Jätkäsaaren inspiroimana satamissa ja terminaaleissa käytettävät tavaroiden käsittely- ja kuljetustavat lift-on/lift-off sekä roll-on/roll-off.

LOLO&RORO toimii rentona kohtaamispaikkana, jossa voi nauttia suomalaisen muotoilun lisäksi Kaffa Roasteryn pop-up -kahvilan antimista hulppealla näköalaterassilla.
